A wide range of skillful and physically demanding activities such as
river-crossing, rappelling and jummaring are needed in Hiking, Trekking and
Rock-Climbing. Rappelling involves descending rock faces with the help of a
descender, rope harness and mittens. Jummaring is nothing but the art of
ascending a slope by rope, using a toothed, metal clamp. The techniques of
going up a fixed rope on the rock, a steep cliff, an overhang or inside
cascading waterfalls. Rock-climbing is an art and technique of climbing rock
or cliff faces. It is an extreme sport, not an easy one. Although modern
techniques and equipment, safety levels have been greatly enhanced. A plenty
of adventure options are available for tourists for visiting Goa.
Where to Go
Running through Goa, the lush Sahyadri Hills(Western Ghats) make it a very
pleasant trekking experience. Nearly all types of mountain sports nestle in
the interiors of Goa. If you visit Valpoi, Mollem and Sanguem, you are going
to be assured of abundant natural beauty. Some of the popular points include
Mahavir wildlife Sanctuary, Devil's Canyon, Tambdi Surla Temple, Vageri
Hill, Krishnapur Canyon and Chandrasurya Temple.
When to Go
You can go there anytime but the best season is October-December.
Age Limit
Minimum 10 years
Kids under 15 years are, in fact, asked to produce a no objection letter
from their parents for these adventure sports.

You can explore your trekking requirements by two organized bodies GHA (Goa
Hiking Association) and YHAI., both based in Panjim. Star hotels like The
Park Hyatt Goa Resort and Spa also arranges trekking tours through a private
operator Joseph Pareto who offers elephant safari trekking as a part of that
tour.
Some Tips
You have no space for individual heroics as these adventure sports are a
team sports. Proper planning, physical stamina, hiking, trekking and
climbing skills besides a strong sense of direction can be a crucial
life-savers in this sports.
Stick to the tried and tested paths and stay within your limits.
Summer hikes can be very tiresome and exhausting. So you are advised to
keep fluids in sufficient amount. You should also keep a safety and survival
kit along with you.
Behave in an eco-friendly manner so never litter or spoil the trail in any
way. Always follow the instructions very strictly. It means that you don't
leave the trek/trail without informing a camp member or guide.
If you are suffering from any physical ailment/illness, you should reveal
it to the operator well in advance.
