Another thrilling water sport of Goa, Para sailing is also known as
Para Ascending. Only a speedboat and a parachute is required in it.
Parachutes are tied to the speedboats and a 300 feet long rope is attached
to speed boat at one end and para sail harness at the other. With the
speedboat gaining the momentum, Para Sailor is hauled up in the air and it
has little or no control over the parachute. The speed is controlled by
tow-vehicles. The person flying the para sail controls its sideways. You can
enjoy the view of clear blue-sky and captivating water body below. All the
speed lovers who love high flying can opt for this water sport. It is very
popular among all the tourists visiting Goa. Sensing the huge popularity of
Para sailing, government and non-governments organizations organize training
sessions of para sailing in Goa at a very nominal rate for tourists.
The dream of flying like a bird while soaking up the beauty of Goan
coastline can be realized by para sailing. There are two ways of doing it -
winch-boat para sailing and beach para sailing. You alone take off and land
on a winch boat in winch-boat para sailing. You are launched from the beach
itself in beach para sailing. Beach landing can be tricky. It requires good
coordination and expertise of ground staff and powerboat operator. As all
the operators may not be trained, you should be careful while choosing a
operator.
