Sea fishing is a sport, very rare until recent years and yet to
catch on in Goa. It has some very uncommon features among all the adventure
water sports. You may wait for hours just to have a catch and even then you
may or may not get the catch. Sea Fishing involves going far out in a motor
boat and to expect some catch including kingfish, tuna and jack fish.
Operators take the groups to bait and Butterfly Islands, much closer to
shore, for fishing.

Fishing Equipments
All you will need a barbed metal hook at the end of nylon or Dacron
line, a wood, fiberglass or metal rod or pole. Heavier rods and reels of the
bait-casting type are used in salt-water fishing. Usual methods are however
trolling and casting from the surf.
When to go for fishing
Fishing tours to Goa are a great delight as it offers the tourist a sense
of immense pleasure in doing this local activity with the fishermen. The
most suitable time for fishing is before and just on the top of the high
tide. The bait used for the fishes is the sardine or shrimp, available
locally in the market.
Fishing on the beach
It involves a lot of effort, often thwarted by sea waves. Fishing in the
serene beaches is always preferred as it enhances the enjoyment. You may get
Rockfish, Stingray and Guitarfish.
Fishing on the boat
Many boats are also available on hire for sea fishing. It may cost some
around ten pounds for three hours. Boat fishing is divided into two types
Bottom fishing and trolling. If you choose bottom fishing, you may come
across the rocky outcrops along the shore.
