I
looked at my watch and it showed 3' o clock in the afternoon. I was supposed
to be ready by 5. As I was a first-time visitor to Goa, I wasn't quite
really aware of the location of discos and pubs. But, I was sure of one
thing that Goan nights simply mean the celebration of life. After a bit of
exploration, I found out that choices were too many and one could really be
spoilt for choices. And that's the reason why people flock to Goa year after
year.
I tried out everything I could.....I went from discos to pubs, casinos to
clubs, bars to river cruises and not forget the beach side full moon
parties. Everything was an exuberance of fun, frolic and liberal aura. I got
a feel of a bird that is flying in the open vast sky.... and wishes to
continue it forever....
In Goa, life doesn't seem to stand still! As the sun sets, life actually
seemed to get better and better. We'd followed a new funda - 'Getting blotto
was the new motto'. With feni in our hands all the time and with that extra
zing in our lives we danced around in the whole Goa. Our disco was near to
Vagator and Anjuna beach. In the morning we lazed around these beaches and
enjoyed the thrilling atmosphere of Bamboo Forest Disco in night. Oh God !
What music he played that night! A fusion of many local forms- this disco
was a class apart...i couldn't stop myself from dancing the whole night.
Next day we headed towards Baga Beach...slugged around the beach and
surprisingly some localite suggested us Club Tito. It's a popular place to
know bout the latest happenings in Goa. The night was sponsored by various
liquors companies, accompanied by different professional DJ's and troupes of
dancers from remote areas. The swinging rhythm, the pulsing lights and the
sweaty bodies of swaying dancers - it all seemed mesmerising to me. Without
even bothered to look around, I rolled back my shirt sleeves and strected
out my body to dance with the flow of music.
Another thing that we did was attending a party cruise in Mandovi.
Witnessing lovely views along with exotic food and drinks made it our best
day in Goa. We also had a great time gambling in The Floating Casino.
I tried out my hands in almost everything. The next day after partying so
much we wanted to move to a place offering slow music. We found out The
Shores Bar in Anjuna was a perfect place to be in. i actually got swayed
away be the slow morphing music played there. Large group of people flocked
there to enjoy the amazing feni and exotic Goan food. I could actually hear
to what my friend was saying that day. As in pubs and discos it was almost
impossible to hear what the other person said to you. Waiters were really
nice at Shores Bar. He told us the story behind Goa's nightlife. Are you
interested to know? Well, he told us that the party scenario in Goa is an
enrichment of the Hippies, who in the 1960's, had brought with themselves,
the rocking night life culture in Goa. Since then till today, Goa is known
worldwide for its nightlife. Especially New Year and Christmas add a charm
to the Goan life style as they're celebrated with great fun and frolic. He
was right on every front as, the nightlife in Goa, amidst its superb
surroundings, projects a magical spark on its visitors and you cannot really
stop yourself from swinging to the wonderful music of Goa.
