I
heard from so many people that Goa filters into you and makes you feel
oh-so-good. Goa isn't a place.... believe me.....it's something else. I mean
whatever it is, you would simply love it. Is it the atmosphere of
desolation? Is it the cheap booze or the presence of sun, sea and sand? What
is it that makes Goa? Well, what I could make in these few days is that Goa
is a utopia, a promised land of the vibrant Goans.
This was a time of not doing much at all, reading, catching up on things,
and enjoying the beautiful view amidst you. I think I lived my life in those
few days. My tourist guide and me, both of us headed towards Anjuna Beach.
While walking on the beach I could feel the tingling of sand in my feet. Oh!
God that was certainly a perky feeling that continued till the time I was in
Goa. And the moment I stepped out of Goa, the first indication was that
perky feeling was no more. It was all gone. My rubbing the feet time to time
and trying to extract out sand was simply funny. As, I could not resist
taking it out from my feet and I never thought in my dreams that I would
miss it so much right through my life.
Well, let's get back to Anjuna beach. I could not imagine that whatever i
heard could be so so true. The fluorescent painted trees and the curve of
soft white sand conformed that it was actually a vision of a paradise and
nothing else. The groves of swaying coconut palms and the sunny beach snared
a charm that hooked. Besides, this i was lucky to visit Anjuna on Wednesday
and yes! You're right in guessing if you've been to Goa. It was all a day of
fun and frolic. Anjuna's Wednesday flea market was held and believe me even
if you're not spending, this market is a great place to sit and watch the
world go by. I could see hawkers and stall-holders screaming to the top of
their voices and the tourists engaged in arguments to lower down the prices.
It was simply colourful everywhere with dazzling Rajasthani mirror work and
block-printed bedspreads, Kerala wood carvings and Gujarati applique. I also
bought some Rajasthani stuff and yes, you too be persistent and cautious as,
you can usually pick things at a pretty reasonable rates.
There was a band of strolling musicians, itinerant beggars, performing
monkeys and snake charmers as well as inevitable hippy jugglers clad in
regulation waistcoats and billowing pyjama trousers. The whole scene was as
coloured as a glittering rainbow.
It was pretty dark by the time i was busy watching Anjuna Flea Market. Do
you know Anjuna is also famous for its notorious parties? Now, it was the
time for party! The throbbing nightlife came in full bloom when young girls
and boys started dancing to the tunes of Goan music. The dances on the beach
and the stringing of the guitars along with drinks makes the most of the
Goan nightlife. The inviting beach, the friendly people, and the flavored
cuisine in abundance created a perfect ambience for such a party. People
were sub-merged in their drinks and enjoying to their fullest. I also danced
and refreshed myself. After coming back from Anjuna i penned down my
experience in my diary and cherished the beautiful moments in Anjuna. In my
diary I concluded that yes I agreed that Goa is beyond imagination, beyond
anything that one could imagine...
