
This walk is sort of tailor-made for the visitor in search of an ideal and
heavenly village.

minutes away from the market town of Mapusa and about 30 minutes from the
capital of Panaji.

The Arpora Walk
Start at the chapel right next to the Sodder's Resort in Arpora Village.
Take a right at the Dena Bank. You'll pass a house that has a sign
mentioning D'Souza's Caje Rose and Alex. Admire the beauty of the house and
then move to the prettiest and the cutest primary school on your right in
the same lane.
After that you would enter Viegas Vaddo which houses a fine collection of
small and large houses exhibiting a mixture of old and new. Then look at the
Vijaya Home for Senior Citizens where you would find a "Sweedish"
massage. Turn left into the dead end that leads you to the homes of two of
Goa's finest artists. The names are Colonial Photo and Shireen Mody
respectively. Silvio Clancia does exclusive work on photographs dating back
to colonial times and boasts a large collection of Bollywood pictures.
Prices for the photos and prints range between Rs 300 to Rs 2000. It also
possess a stall at Ingo's Saturday Night Flea Market.
Across the road from Colonial Photo is the artist Shireen Mody known for
her feisty works on Goan life. Mody holds exhibitions of acrylic on canvas
paintings, which costs 45,000 to one lakhs. You can only meet her after
taking appointment. Observe the Tabra House, Viegas Vaddo and Viegs Vaddo
and 39. now you'll head to Goa's first English medium School, St Joseph's
School. The hill in the backdrop and trees in the compound of the school are
a photographer's delight. The road past the schoOl on the left goes upto the
Nilaya Hermitage, an exclusive resort for the tourists.
Take out a moment to watch the pond herons (also called as paddy birds).
You would be happy to see brilliant flashes of white against the surrounding
emerald trees. This forms a beautiful sight and The Arpora Walk will surely
