A Walk Through Island
Gear up yourself for a long beautiful walk witnessing innumerable things on
your way. Begin your walk by turning right from Our Lady Of Divar Church or
Nessar Senhora de Piedade. Then you'' be lucky to spot an artistic house of
ancient times particularly of 1940's. Do you know who had the lucky
possession of this house? Well, it belonged to the aristocratic Albuquerque
family! And , then you would turn and look at the ancestral home of
Bareto's, island's counted as oldest families. Can you believe that being
such an old mansion, it still attracts visitors? Well, this is called as the
magic of Goa! You stop to see the oldest building of Goa and then you
cherish it forever. All the Divar houses look beautiful in November and
December? The coming of Christmas festival gets these houses painted and
giving a magnificent look to the visitors. The yellow painted Castro house
stands on the same street and reminds us of the two bishops who were
appointed here. Now, you'll change your lane and follow the road with a
curve and you'll be surprised to notice a big change there. The Bridgetine
Sisters, has reformed their property from an aged home to a rent out place
where, if you want, you can, spend a night but you'll be charged Rs 250 per
person.
So did u get tired of walking? Well, charge yourself as you've reached to
the most energizing part of the walk. You will be amazed to pass through
hill with a private chapel dedicated to St Anthony. Don't forget to look
upto the grey cloud of depression condescends over you and then bobbing up
with an expanse of green. With Old Goa on the left Panaji, and Charao on the
right, ascending above the morning, with hazes in front of you and paddy
fields all around will give a complete shangrila look.
Another Delightful Walk Through
You may start your wonderful journey again by taking a ferry from Ribander
and arrive once again at Our Lady of Piety Church. Don't forget to have a
look from the same church! The view looks absolutely beautiful from such a
height. You'll ve to move downward towards the pitch leading to Christopher
Heredia's house and then continue waliking and you'll see a temple on a
hill. Just look behind the trees and turn left towards the panchayat of
Malar and admire St Matias Church and the course of houses on the street in
the neighbourhood of Amboi. Fach family living in these courses of house
have an amazing thing about themselves. It is strange to know that every
family home on this street bears the name Menezes. It is pretty much
possible, that all the families in this village were commuted to
Christianity, in one bulk and were given the same surname or perchance they
took the surname from the Parish priest who set up these transitions.
